Andy Baber
A born and bred Bristolian, Andy was immersed in music from a young age, growing up on a strict diet of Genesis/Phil Collins, the late, great Whitney Houston and Dire Straits passed down by his parents.
He spent his teen years moving through as much music as possible, building up an expansive musical taste that includes a wide range of genres - from Hip-Hop/Rap and Rock to Motown and Indie.
After his first gig watching the Arctic Monkeys in Cardiff International Arena - where the Sheffield quartet had to pause after the opening refrain of The View From The Afternoon for crowd safety - Andy found himself becoming a regular gig-goer. Festivals are also a favourite pastime of his, with Worthy Farm like a second home. He also went to Reading Festival in 2009, where he saw his favourite band, Radiohead, play one of the best sets he’s ever seen - including the masterstroke of starting with Creep.
Some of his favourite current acts include Arcade Fire, The Maccabees, Kanye West, Girls, Bombay Bicycle Club, Wild Beasts, TV On The Radio and Eminem. Yet he is also enamored with music from the '60s, with Motown artists like Marvin Gaye, Four Tops, Smokey Robinson and The Temptations, as well as the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton, among his favourites.
Having recently graduated from Southampton University - where he spent more time going to gigs and writing for the Uni music and film magazine, The Edge, than going to lectures - Andy is now a trainee reporter at the Wiltshire Times.
