Ruth Follows
If the strongest memories of a childhood are those of pulling extrovert shapes to Paul Simon's Graceland, forcing the stylus to jump and gradually degrade her parents' record collection, that probably best explains why Ruth Follows (nee. Davies) is who she is today.
Trained as a local hack on a weekly paper, a brief foray into the horrific world of feature writing for women's mag-rags meant the often natural journalistic jump into the world of public relations and press offices arrived a little earlier than for some. A degree in philosophy never helps to shed light on her decision making.
By night and weekend, her PR world gives way to hours of hunting for new music, gigs and writing on all matters related to the subject. Some of her most poignant gig memories are Art Brut at the Birmingham Barfly and seeing The Chemical Brothers perform Where Do I Begin? at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
In the future, Ruth rather fancies herself as a freelance PR and writer with a B&B and a small menagerie of farmyard animals.
