Loop Festival
The Field plays Loop Festival
Located in Brighton's Victoria Gardens Loop festival returns for a third year, displaying one of the summer's more interesting and diverse line ups in both outdoor and indoor settings.

Loop Live, the main chunk of the event, takes place throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday proves to be an all out dance-off. The main arena boasts a rare festival set from Warp marvel Squarepusher, still plugging his Just A Souvenir record from last year and Norwegians Datarock who finally return eagerly awaited follow-up to their self titled party starting debut album of 2005. Newcomers We Have Band, The XX and Natural Self will all be also be appearing in the outdoor stage.
Meanwhile the likes of NYC hipsters Telepathe delivering their trance electro gems, The Knife vocalist and all round icon Karin Dreijer Anderssen's new side project Fever Ray and minimal techno legend The Field will be bringing the Corn Exchange to its knees. There's also the pavilion theatre offering more leftfield treats, such as the much lauded Zan Lyons and Thomas Truax.

But the fun doesn't end there, as three more venues then open their doors for Loop Late for some after dark dance action from DFA's finest The Juan Maclean, performing from their tremendous new opus The Future Will Come and certain to be one of the weekend's high points. The drum 'n' bass heads are catered for with the mighty Qemists at the Concorde 2 while mash up, airhorn blowing Zomby makes a rare UK appearance on the back of his cult Where Were You In 92? record which has got bloggers excited throughout the first half of 2009. Radio 1 veteran Mary Ann Hobbs will also be on hand providing the latest dubstep and electro which she continues to dish out on her weekly show.

Still with us? You'll want to come back on Sunday then, where some more delicate offerings will be on offer in the Victoria Gardens and Corn Exchange. Icelandic favourites Múm are bound to be perfect in some mid-afternoon sunshine (fingers firmly crossed), previewing their latest, more poppy LP, the brilliantly titled Sing Along To Songs You Don't Know. Indiepop favourites Fanfarlo blend Magnetic Fields with The Smiths while Emiliana Torrini's enchanting voice will no doubt cure some hangovers occurring from the previous nights partying.

Throw in hotly tipped Esser and a homecoming performance from the legendary Fujiya & Miyagi and the scene is set for a pretty memorable weekend. What's more, the Sunday finishes at the very bed-friendly time of 7pm meaning you can rest up well before heading back to reality on Monday morning with no fear of needing to wash any mud off your clothing.

Loop Festival takes place on 11 and 12 July 2009 at Victoria Gardens, Brighton. Tickets cost £65 for both days from Loop Festival.
