Blade Runner: The Ultimate Giveaway
Blade Runner This Friday sees the release in limited cinemas (Picture House only) of Ridley Scott's new cut of his 1982 masterpiece, Blade Runner. Starring a youthful looking Harrison Ford alongside Rutger Hauer in his best-ever performance, and featuring art-direction and special effects which remain astonishing to this day, the film is one of the greatest pieces of science-fiction ever committed to celluloid.

The film is notorious for having already been released twice in two different versions, though die-hard fans will tell you there are in fact four versions. Until now, that is; after several years of work, Scott is declaring the Blade Runner project complete, with the release of his "Final Cut". Critical opinion on this new edit has been divided, with some reviewers calling it "definitive", "stunning" and "jaw-dropping", others described the new cut as at best "unnecessary" and at worst, "plain cash in". You can read musicOMH's own opinion here. But maybe you'd like to decide for yourself?

The film is on release from this Friday, and will be released on DVD format on the 3rd of November in two formats: the "special edition" Final Cut itself, and also a massive 5-disc box-set which includes all five versions of the film, as well as documentaries and commentaries. musicOMH has four copies of the Special Edition and one copy of the box-set to give away to lucky readers of, well, this page.

To be in with a chance of winning, answer the following question:

What's the name of original Philip K Dick novel on which Blade Runner is based?
    a) We Can Build You
    b) Flow my Tears, the Policeman Said
    c) Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

and send your answer, together with your full name, email address and postal address to:

Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Edward James Olmos, Joanna Cassidy, Sean Young and Daryl Hannah are among some 80 stars, filmmakers and others who participate in the extensive bonus features. Among the bonus material highlights is Dangerous Days - a brand new, feature length documentary by award-winning DVD producer Charles de Lauzirika, with an extensive look into every aspect of the film: its literary genesis, its challenging production and its controversial legacy. The definitive documentary to accompany the definitive film version.

Additionally, the Five Disc Ultimate Collection will include an entire disc with hours of enhanced content containing featurettes and galleries devoted to over 45 minutes of deleted and alternate scenes recently discovered in deep storage and approved by Ridley Scott, visual effects as well as background on author Philip K. Dick, script development, abandoned sequences, conceptual design, overall impact of the film and how it lead to the birth of cyberpunk. Trailers, TV spots and promotional featurettes will also be included.

All entries must be received by 3/12/2007, which means the package will arrive in time to be an awesome Christmas present. The editor's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Winners will be notified by email.
