Contributing Writer: Lottie Greenhow

Lottie Greenhow

Lottie was born in Norway in the late eighties and graduated in 2008 with a BA (Hons) in Music from Cambridge University, where she held choral scholarships at Christ’s and Jesus Colleges. In her final year she specialised in ethnomusicology, focusing particularly on the Hardanger fiddle, the mythology surrounding it and its influence on Norwegian and British orchestral and film music of the 20th century. After graduating, Lottie worked for two years as an assistant manager in the Vocal Department of Hazard Chase Ltd., and it was here that she developed a real passion for opera and choral music (and reviewing!).

Lottie now enjoys a full-time job in music administration, which takes her all over the country. She also continues to sing professionally with various London choirs and as a soloist. Lottie studies singing with Ashley Stafford, and is also fortunate to be studying on a part-time acting course at The Questors Theatre in Ealing.

Lottie will happily listen to almost anything but she particularly enjoys opera, oratorio, choral and chamber music, Renaissance and Baroque music, terrible 90s pop and musical theatre. She continues to develop her love of Scandinavian music through research into Norwegian folk tunes, and has appeared as a guest speaker at the London Fiddle Conference.

In what is left of her spare time, Lottie enjoys cycling, trampolining, terrible films, expensive wine (especially if someone else has paid for it), obscure European cheese and sudoku. She is absolutely delighted to be writing for musicOMH.
