musicOMH's Top 50 Best Albums Of 2008: Introduction
"Why the hell is this not in there?!"
It's the time of year when every man, woman and quite possibly dog reflects on the year just gone, the music unleashed during it - and then sets about devising a geeky formula for ordering it all into a great big list.
musicOMH's writers have been voting on their favourite albums of 2008 with the aim of producing just such a list. A longlist of 110 records featured nominations from our writers alongside selections from our four- and five-star reviews from across the year.
Writers then voted for their favourite 20 (or 10) albums from this list, producing a final musicOMH Top 50 Albums Of 2008 for your delectation. Even with a mysterious/geeky calculation device at our disposal (aka Microsoft Excel), it was a herculean task to wave g'bye to 60 rather fine records. If we're honest, we might have moistened around the eyes.
For, as with any such exercise, this list makes some shocking omissions, some stunning inclusions and gives a place to at least one album originally tagged with just two and a half stars.
So, which records made the list? Have we included something ridiculous? Have we missed out your favourite? Tell us at the Albums Of 2008 Blog.
