Anyone who hates Phil Collins is okay by us. Although this may well include pretty much everyone in the country, it's usually a pretty good yardstick. 0898 Dave (or Dave Cox as he's known by his mum) specialises in the kind of lo-fi pop that you might have found on the early Baby Bird albums. Like Stephen Jones, Dave is a kind of musical magpie, taking elements from many genres and playing them on a bontempi organ.

The Way We Fall is a bouncy little tune that would not be out of place on any number of animated children's television programmes. It even sounds like someone from Blue Peter has made it; held together with toilet rolls and sticky back plastic, and built with a lot of love and care. It features a vocoder that sounds like there are guest vocals from Metal Mickey, and is therefore probably one of the coolest things we've heard in ages.

Burn It To The Bone takes in such elements as Stevie Wonder, the drum pattern sampled by the Beastie Boys on Brass Monkey, and the songwriting skills of Christopher Lillicrap. Funnily enough, it's a perfect combination. Now, if we could only get 0898 Dave and Derek Griffiths in a room together; we'd have a platinum album on our hands.
