50 Cent's second album The Massacre unsurprisingly went straight to number one on both sides of the Atlantic. The relentless gritty, unique sound that Curtis Jackson has trademarked shows no signs of letting up, and the fact he's done all of this without switching to a more mainstream sound is testament to the talent the man undoubtedly possesses.
Candy Shop won't be a new track to anyone who's been in any club playing even a smattering of hip-hop, or to anyone who has a radio. The cartoon-esque opening beat gives way to a crushing Dr Dre beat and as soon as that drops it's game over, and time for the fun to begin. The chemistry generated between 50 and G Unit's first lady Olivia is almost as explicit as the lyrics.
The fact that Candy Shop needs two radio edits points straight to the fact it's a filthy track: The bass line is made for grinding to, no two ways about it. Candy Shop will go straight to the top of charts, but recent events surrounding 50 Cent and The Game show that all might not be rosy for the Runion Avenue soldiers.
