Jack White once wanted to turn the world red and black. Now it seems he's turning everything to gold with his Midas touch. The 747s were recently chosen to support White's super group The Raconteurs. So has the influence of Mr. Goldenfingers worked its magic here?

Well, yes and no. The instrumentals here are extremely good, echoing the 70s post punk era encapsulated by The Strokes. However, the vocals seem to unfairly take prominence over the chords and feedback. The lyrics are far too clear and could really benefit from a more low-fi approach to production, especially when the lines themselves are no great shakes.

If The Raconteurs have inspired you to check out similar bands, then the 747s are definitely worth remembering, but it's probably best to wait a while to see what happens next rather than sample this slightly underwhelming single.
