A Girl Called Eddy is actually Erin Moran, a singer from New Jersey who has been taken under the wing of Richard Hawley. Her debut album, produced by Hawley, is packed full of gorgeously atmospheric songs and is currently being played to death by Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe amongst others.
The Long Goodbye is a bit more upbeat than most of the songs on the album, with Hawley laying down a superb, soaring production that brings to mind Phil Spector's best work. Moran's voice is a beautifully rich one, and fans of Aimee Mann and Chrissie Hynde will find much to admire here.
While not quite being the heartbreaking work of genius that her previous single Somebody Hurt You was, The Long Goodbye is more evidence that A Girl Called Eddy is soon to become a very big name indeed.
