Two seconds in. Christ, this sounds a bit like Hard-Fi.
Oh, wait a second, it's settled down a bit now. It still sounds a bit like Hard-Fi, but now they've gone down that whole synth dance route that makes them sound like Human League or New Order if either of those bands wrote exclusively about serial killers.
Black Moon is another of those singles that blends guitars with big beats and old sounding synth sounds. This used to sound pretty fresh not so long ago, but now everyone's doing it you'd better be pretty special if you want to get noticed. A. Human are not special by any stretch of the imagination, and this single sounds fairly generic.
Lyrically they're pretty sloppy too. There's something going on about a bloke called Tony who might have sold his wife for a cock fight or something (is that euphemistic?). Anyway, yeah, Tony gets killed with a pair of tights. Strangled or something. Stone the facking crows mah son. Hardly inspired, but should Guy Richie hear this song, he'll undoubtedly write a film all about it.
B-side Trees Sway is far more unpleasant and creepy. It's got something of Nine Inch Nails about it, and a bit of the Madchester thing going on too. It suggests that there may be more to A. Human than the frankly ordinary Black Moon might have let on.
