Air Traffic are tipped to go places. Their previous single, Charlotte, charted, and they're about to release their first album.
They sound just like Coldplay. And I really do mean just like. Melodic percussive piano intro a la Clocks, bland guitar that wouldn't frighten a nervous horse in a dark room, same breathy little falsetto bits in the vocals that Chris Martin does, fatuous lyrics. "You are my Shooting Star" they croon, but they don't burn a fiery path across my heaven, that'd for sure.
They belong to that very populist, toothless sector of 'indie' rock that is now little more than MOR, and depressingly will probably be the next big thing. they're all over MTV, they're playing the summer festivals, I fear we will hear far too much of this bilge in the months to come.
