Alan Braxe & Fred Falke are a pair of French based dance merchants, whose earlier tunes such as Runnin' and the sublime Intro continued the fine work that predecessors and occasional collaborators Daft Punk began. Indeed, along with Together and Stardust - with which each has been involved - it seemed that partying like it was 1995 was a fabulous idea, and for a while it actually was.

Rubicon is a slice of glossy big hair disco house, and is so mid-'80s you half expect Kevin Bacon to skip in at any moment and dance on top of the nearest Volvo. You'd be hard pushed to believe it was in fact 2004 when power dressed synths glide in over reasonably filtered squelches.

In the right context, you'd be up on the podium with your top off in seconds, but on a wet afternoon spent doing some ironing, it sounds completely unnecessary.
