The BBC reality TV show Fame Academy was meant to produce a whole new generation of singers, but it's rather seemed as if the show's been somewhat cursed. Lemar's been the only successful graduate, with David Sneddon, Malachi, Ainslie, Sinead Quinn and Alistair Griffin all dispatched straight back to obscurity.

Alex Parks, winner of the show's second series, seemed as if she may break this pattern. She stood out from the pack by being a genuinely distinctive singer, and the original material on her first album hinted at a promising career - especially the haunting single Maybe That's What It Takes. This comeback single though, is disappointing. It's dreary beyond belief, with no memorable tune in sight. Even Parks' voice, which swooped and soared so memorably, sounds ordinary, swamped somewhat by the rather too lush production.

With no covers at all on her forthcoming second album Honesty, it's make or break time for Parks. This is not a great single by any means, and a rather odd way of heralding the comeback of one who's been gone so long. Hopefully, the rest of the album will be more memorable than this.
