Alkaline Trio - This Could Be Love

This Could Be Love is the opening track from the Chicago Trio's current album Good Mourning - an album full of unhappiness, bad dreams, compulsivity, dying and blasphemy.

The single captures this spirit perfectly with ex-girlfriend blues (you know the sort of thing - she slits your throat, cuts off your fingers and so forth.)

It's metal meets cleanly-produced punk and is mainly driven by lyrics and lively guitar work, though vocalist Matt Skiba keeps the whole thing cool and together. But great lyrics do not a great single make, and This Could Be Love is lacking spark in the melodic department.
