Imagine Busted learned to play guitar and moved across the pond. You have just come up with the All-American Rejects. Well, almost - it seems these guys have an ambition to be taken seriously.

The Last Song is very much the slice of teen heartache that Swing, Swing was. It lacks, however, the catchy hook or sing-along chorus. The band chug their way through a pop-punk ditty that simply won't match their previous success, and, unfortunately, that only fans will remember the track seems a distinct likelihood.

"This may be the last thing that I write for long" is strained out over strings in the opening seconds of The Last Song, and unless the Rejects offer something a little more original, this may very well be a case of poetic justice (or should that be irony?).
