Council of Desperation. Now there's a good name for a track. You just know it's not going to be disco rubbish with a R&B beat, don't you? And by a band called All Traps Set. No smiles here, then, guaranteed.

All Traps Set is in fact a fella named Chris Walmsley, who's been locking himself in his bedroom listening to too much (you can never have too much) Can and Joy Division, and recreating it only on drums with maybe a little bit of electronic help here and there.

That's what we want. None of that vocals rubbish getting in the way either. There are hints of the same sort of thing Steve Reid and Kieran Hebden are up to at the moment, but with more of a Krautrock influence and in fact, all in all, this is just brilliant.

In fact, Council of Desperation's only fault is that it's a single and not an entire album. When can we have more?
