It isn't often that news reporters are the focus of songs by rock bands, and yet Anemo have seen fit to relate the story of John Simpson and some US troops getting accidentally bombed by a US warplane.

The basic premise is "war, yeah, is bad isn't it?" which it is, in this instance. The American Civil War was pretty necessary though as was our own civil war. Given the story on which this song is based upon I'm surprised it's not a diatribe about the intelligence of the US military.

Nit picking about content aside Pray is actually a pretty average single. Despite promises of loud guitars and a powerhouse performance, Pray is something of a damp squib. In terms of a rock record, you feel slightly cheated.

This is certainly no searing white metal shell careening its way into your lug hole. Anemo definitely reside in the pop-rock zone, and the operatic style of vocalists Hazelle an Erika means that they have a definite edge. If nothing else the vocals are immaculately performed, filling the chorus with a much needed sense of bombast. It almost doesn't matter that the actual lyrics are nothing but well meaning guff and that the tune itself sounds a little like an old Garbage cast-off.
