The US foursome are back, and their latest single and pre-emptive taster of new album Strawberry Jam album contains more of the same 'spaz-pop' that brought them so much attention and an impressionable student audience as 2005 album Feels. Unfortunately, it's just not as good.

If you can make it through the first thirty seconds of white-noise-esque intro with its whirring synths without reaching for the off-button and a couple of ibuprofen, you get into a track that's probably best described with that most useful of all adjectives - interesting. The beat throbs enticingly, the drawling lead singer lures you in and the sporadic blasts of high-pitched vocals could put Mika to shame.

Admittedly music like this is of the 'love it or hate it' variety. If this is your pint of snakebite then you'll be bopping away to it in eager anticipation of the album and shouting the chorus at the top of your voice down at the student union bar. Otherwise you're more likely to find it strangely annoying.
