Anita Baker earned her reputation during the '80s when her soul ballads gained her fans such as Paul Weller. The height of her success came in 1986 when the Grammy award winning Rapture was released, which included the classic Sweet Love.
Since her last album, Baker's been rather quiet. In fact, this is her first record in ten years and frankly it's like she's never been away. You're My Everything is an almost effortlessly classy RnB ballad which swoops and soars to great effect. Baker's vocals also sound as good as ever - smooth and rich, it's the sort of voice you could listen to all day.
Today's R&B icons such as Alicia Keys owe Ms Baker a great deal and indeed she's just been awarded a MOBO Lifetime Achievement Award - if you're a fan of sweet soul ballads, then this is essential listening.
