She gave us Chewing Gum and My Greatest Hit, but this release from Bergen's own pop princess is her best so far. Voted by Pitchfork web surfers as their number one single of 2004, My Heartbeat comes with a top billing.

It doesn't disappoint, with the kind of euphoric lines that turn grey days into sunny ones, and if there's any justice they will be given the chance to do so on national radio. The cool vocal gets a shiny pop production job underneath, and a bitter-sweet chorus completes a chic little number.

With a host of festival and live dates coming up in the summer this could be the year for Annie's big UK breakthrough, and with such an impressive trio of singles it would be well deserved.
