Those Norwegians and their 80s fixations! Ever since Royksopp the bottomless pit that seems to be Scandinavian electronic music has been exploited for all pop fans to enjoy, and for the most part it's been of a high standard.

Annie is certainly one of those quality acts, and Chewing Gum is a throwaway pop record in the best tradition, delivered dead pan over a strutting beat. Rather like the gum you trod in by accident this morning, it will prove difficult to remove from your person.

If Kylie had inherited this song it's a sure bet it would be a number one, and in a lot of respects Annie is Norway's answer to the soap-pop princess - only this girl has better lyrics and more vocal savvy to play with.
