The Answer may be Irish by birth, but when it comes to tone, they are pure Stateside rock; much like the Celtic cousins of The Black Crowes, with a touch of the home grown Led Zeppelin riffage in there too.
Be What You Want could have easily been stolen from a collection of Reef B-sides, but the lads prove they are also pretty dedicated to replicating that classic '70s sound of bands like Free and Deep Purple when they showcase melodic stunners like So Cold with huge choruses and tune dipped verses.
With the complete flood of piss poor whiney, indie poser boy outfits currently being shoved down the British airwaves , we are in dire need of a band like The Answer. Sincere, unadulterated rock'n'roll that doesn't pretend to be smarter than it is, or take itself too seriously is exactly what we need - even if they have opted for the fatefully trendy 'The' in their moniker. Oh well, almost perfect!
