Ash may have indulged their heavier side on the Meltdown album, but Tim Wheeler just can't resist throwing in a madly catchy chorus. The unwieldy titled Renegade Cavalcade is a prime example, being a mix of crunching guitars and bitter-sweet power pop.

This starts off all quiet and soft - so quiet in fact that you may be tempted to turn your speakers up. If you did though, you'd be in for a shock as the chorus veritably explodes into life - another hummable Wheeler classic full of "hey, yeah yeah" before going slightly mad in the instrumental break.

As an Ash song it's not quite up there with moments like Girl From Mars or Shining Light, but it's still pretty damn good. A forthcoming tour with The Darkness should expose their talent to an even bigger audience.
