After a three-year absence and line-up changes, Asian Dub Foundation are back with an explosive new single.
Fortress Europe has everything thrown in but the proverbial kitchen sink at various points during its three minutes. There are the impassioned insurrectionary lyrics that we have come to expect, sampled vocals and strings from a Hindi film, a hard dance-floor rhythm, gunshot rap delivery, squalling guitars and even a soulful reggae vocal break for good measure.
If anything, Fortress Europe loses some of its focus in its pursuit of diversity. However, it is still a tasty appetiser for the entree of the impending new album.
