Well it wouldn't be summer without an omnipresent Athlete single would it? For the last few years, it seems that our lazy, sun drenched months have been soundtracked by the luscious melodies of this Deptford four piece - if you said you've been able to avoid the likes of Westside, You Got The Style and El Salvador in the past, you'd be lying.
And with the release of this, the title track of their second album Tourist, it seems that there'll be no escaping them this time round either. If you don't like them, this will come as bad news. But hold on - this is anything but bland, insipid or sub standard Coldplay, or whatever else they've been unjustly labelled in the past.
This is in fact the best thing they've ever released, and is quite simply a wonderful track that's impossible to dislike. Yes, Wires was great, but Athlete are at their best when they keep it up-tempo - as they do here. A gentle guitar introduction leads into a breezy chorus that's so memorable it'll still be kicking around when the leaves start falling off trees. Now that's progression.
