Girls nationwide who once despaired over their emotionally retarded,
spliff tokin' fellas have Mike Skinner's heartfelt ballad Dry Your Eyes to thank for a shift towards the romantic in their guys. If Skinner,
who is more at home making music about pills and weed, can share his broken
heart with the nation then anything is possible.
Now it's the turn of the Audio Bullys to get all soppy with their new
single I'm In Love. It lacks the universal appeal or craftsmanship of Dry
Your Eyes and the creativity and cool of their previous single Shot You
Down, but it is a pleasant enough ditty that will perhaps help draw the
laddish duo to a more girly audience.
Lines like "Everything I say I say for you, and everything I do, you do
it too, love keep on working, love keep on working your magic" ain't exactly
Byron, but then the Bullys never set out to be poets. I'm In Love is a
sweet change of pace for the dance act, but they are definitely better suited
to faster, beat-laden, dancefloor tracks.
