Deltasonic have already given the world The Zutons and The Coral, and now along come labelmates The Basement, a gang of slightly scruffy looking (adopted) Irish-Scousers with a definite 60s influence. Sound familiar?

Funnily enough, The Basement have actually been around for years (in fact The Zutons were supporting them back in 2003), but circumstances seemed to dictate they'd be stood watching on the sidelines while their friends became famous. It would have been had that happened, for I Just Caught A Face is a masterful slice of summery guitar pop. It recalls both The Byrds and especially Bob Dylan, and therefore may not be particularly original, but it's thoroughly enjoyable.

You can imagine it going down very well during festival season and if you're feeling the withdrawal symptoms for a new Coral album, this should fill the void very nicely.
