Not many pop groups have sprung from the soil of Jura, but it's no surprise that Jura natives The Bee Bee See claim the KLF as an influence (Jura is the island where the KLF famously went to burn a #1M art prize the were awarding for the worst art of the year when sculptress Rachael Whiteread refused to accept it).

There's also echoes of Supergrass in the bouncy guitars and piano and Pulp in the retro-poptone quality of their second release, Disney Eyes, although the lyrics aren't quite the biting social commentary I think they are aiming for.

Lines like "We don't own our own genes at this time, smoking like beagles with Disney eyes" get the point across, but eschew natural delivery to do so. That said the title is a nice summing up of shortening attention spans and the obsession with spangly nonentities shown by much of the general public, and I particularly like the idea of describing someone who's lucky as walking "between the raindrops all the time." Certainly they seem to have the drive and passion to go somewhere, and could turn into something very interesting: social commentators who are neither po-faced nor dreary sounding.
