Since their Mercury Prize-nominated album Sunshine Hit Me, The Bees haven't exactly been in the limelight. They are, however, well-loved on a relatively small scale, and Wash In The Rain may well be their ticket to wider success.

It's still classic Bees, of course, but it is noticeably heavier than anything on their debut album. Media Player may well identify the single as Nirvana's You Know You're Right, but I wouldn't go that far: Wash In The Rain has a feel of the Kinks about it, and is sure to serve as one of many lazy anthems for the summer.

From the bouncy guitar intro to the sing-along, feel-good chorus, Paul Butler and co. have done the business again, and with any luck this one will bring Bees magic to the masses.
