Beulah is aimed pretty squarely at the lucrative Katie Melua market, so much so that it's surprising she's not been parcelled up and sent round to Mike Batt's house reciting "I love the Wombles" in a Georgian accent.
So from the first chord it's pretty obvious whether this is your cup of tea or not. It's a pretty jazzy ballad, with Beulah's pleasant if unremarkable vocals begging her other half to "stay, I just can't stand to let it end this way" and various other cliches such as "hard times have their reasons" and "We got so much more than love to lose".
The overall effect is so drippy that you wouldn't blame Beulah's fella if, rather than staying, he ran screaming from the house even faster. This has all been done many times before and you can't see this fighting to be heard amongst its many soundalikes doing the rounds on Radio 2 at the moment.
