Big Strides may claim on the CD inlay card that there is someone playing a "gaffer taped bull fiddle" (likely) and a "six-string shotgun" (less likely) on their new single, but there's certainly no sign of those aforementioned strides on the cover, big or otherwise (joke for the Aussies there).
Instead, while this is clearly not going to be a "hit", there's plenty to get happy about in this melding of funk, jazz, blues and the singer from Stereo MCs. Not really of course, that's just how he sounds. A bit like he's drunk and hasn't slept for days in other words.
Stronger, though, than their invention of instruments is their lyrical invention. And, as if to underline this, B.S. have also included a paean to Donald Rumsfeld's comments on the bombing of Afghanistan ("Cookies"), which is actually rather better than the "A side" and even makes the U.S. Defence Secretary sound rather sexy. Well somebody had to do it, I guess.
