The great country of Canada has been responsible for foisting both Avril Lavigne and Nickleback on us in recent years, but they may just have redeemed themselves with Billy Talent.

Despite having a name that sounds like a manufactured Pop Idol, the Toronto four-piece have produced a terrifically punky debut single, all grinding guitars and screaming vocals, together with a chorus that just won't leave your brain alone.

Although some of the lyrics lean rather too heavily towards teen angst ("forgive me father, why should you bother" for example), Try Honesty is a fine calling card for a band with a big future ahead of them.
