Grabbed from the Young Machetes album, along comes this sonic gem. The Blood Brothers may well be a hardcore band in the loosest sense of the term, but that they cover so many bases in such a short period of time makes them a much more interesting proposition.
Laser Life hits on a old rock 'n' roll electric piano riff before the rumbling drums finally give way to a "chorus" that manages to maintain a pop sensibility under some duress. Underneath all of this is a horn section trying to make its presence felt. It's to no avail however because The Blood Brothers see fit to punctuate the song with an outburst similar to the one that peppered At The Drive-In's One Armed Scissor with threats of violence.
The twin vocals of Jordan Billie and Johnny Whitney scream across the initially laid back track. With a mouth full of Vim and a swagger so pronounced it that would no doubt make walking a complex operation, they tear through proceedings in a manner that the adjective invigorating was invented for.
