One of the great things about the commercial breakthrough of The White Stripes is that it gives bands like The Blueskins possible exposure when they might otherwise remain forever unknown.
The Wakefield four piece have been building up a steady reputation on the back of some explosive live performances and this five-track EP gives a good idea of what they're all about. From the raw opening track Number 23 through to the shout-along Lager And Lime, this is British blues-rock at its most energetic and exciting.
With the gentler, acoustic based Ellie Meadows showing a previously hidden Coral-like quality to their music, it should only be a matter of time before these Yorkshire boys are giving Jack and Meg a run for their money.
