From the title this could be retro kitsch, or some emo-punk wannabes surfing a wave of choppy guitars on a 'stop-start' singalong chorus. But no, regrettably it falls into an acoustic strummed smirk of a song, like Jack Johnson with a personality.
This is an inoffensive, laid back little chap who rhymes "Being like Captain Kirk" with "Love to go to work". Oh, and if you missed it, he "just wants to feel good". Well, they're hardly groundbreaking sentiments, but you can't really argue with it, can you?
Breezing along over an easy Californian harmony driven number, you can hardly imagine him working up a sweat over anything. This is the song's downfall for me, in that its bland, repetitive happiness knaws away at the synapses of your brain, urging you to feel some emotion. Come on man! Feel something! Or maybe it's just (shudder) 'chillout' music?
