Last year Bob Sinclar had us whistling in the streets with Love Generation, an uplifting track that brought peace and happiness in its wake. Now World, Hold On strives for the same result, its protest-style lyrics imploring that we open up our hearts and change for the better.
All very laudable, and especially so if you haven't heard Love Generation. Unfortunately if you have, practically everything about this track can be traced to that song. Slightly darker maybe, and a little introspective, but Sinclar lazily employs the whistle tactic in the chorus once again, which has the effect of detracting from Steve Edwards' impassioned vocals.
As always with Sinclar production is glossy and the house beat bounces along freely, even more so in the superior club mix. It's just a shame that he's fallen for one of the oldest tricks in the dance book, following up his biggest singles hit with what amounts to an inferior copy.
