If the 'real' Bookhouse Boys - the fictional society from Twin Peaks that was out to combat the forces of darkness - really had formed a band, you can pretty much guarantee this is what it would have sounded like.

Caught somewhere between Nick Cave, Joy Division and a Mariachi speakeasy that plays an inordinate amount of Pixies on its jukebox, this eighteen-piece musical collective comprises a brass section, duelling guitars and male and female vocalists (not that they always need either). They sweep across your music system kicking up dust, trying to steal your horses and looking for the next Quentin Tarantino movie to soundtrack.

If you've got a strong enough constitution not to run for the hills, then knock back the bourbon, grab a rose between your teeth and dance until your feet hurt. Tonight is a cracker of a debut single that will hopefully have more of the same riding into town not too far behind it.
