Alan McGee is still trying to find a band that will make him as much money as Oasis. The Hives looked like they might for a while, until they buggered off to Polydor, so what we have here is his latest attempt to recapture his golden touch.

Looks like Alan's gone back to what he knows as The Boxer Rebellion seems transplanted smack-bang from the middle of that whole Britpop era. Frontman Nathan Nicholson, who sounds a bit like the guy from JJ72 on (a lot) less helium, impassionedly sings what they presumably thought was a 'big' anthemic chorus over Verveesque swirling guitars and the whole thing is remarkably like that band down the pub you saw on Friday night. And maybe that's how it happened.

We've all done it, had a few too many the night before and then woken to find we'd signed a band to our record-label. My advice to you Alan, sign bands sober in the future.
