No Conversation is the latest single from London-based, loved-by-the-emo-kids, four-piece Boy Kill Boy. And with a band name that errs on the more violent side of things, we might expect a far less poppy affair.
No Conversation is reasonably inoffensive. A charming Dirty Perfect, Undercut-sounding verse itchingly beats a path through a solid rhythm section, gloopy synths, and a nice vocal melody. However, the chorus is overdone, clichéd, and just generally not very creative.
Make no mistake, No Conversation has been created for mass consumption, aimed at capturing the biggest audience possible. That is evident by the big, squeaky clean production, to-the-letter following of standard pop song structure, and the flailing arms waving at radio play lists all over the land begging "Pick me! Pick me!". So, nothing very inventive, but a fair song let down by an annoying chorus.
