As Fatboy Slim, it would be fair to say that Norman Cook helped write the soundtrack for the '90s. Indeed, it would be hard to think of The Rockefeller Skank, Praise You or Right Here Right Now without recalling those heady days of the mid to late '90s.
The problem with defining an era though is that it leaves you looking anachronistic. So, it's no surprise that, for his latest project, Cook has reached into his big bag of pseudonyms and come up with the Brighton Port Authority.
The forthcoming album boasts a stellar line-up of vocal talent, including Iggy Pop, Martha Wainwright and Jamie T, and the first single features none other than ex-Talking Head David Byrne - no stranger to dance tracks of course, after his work with X-Press 2. His unmistakable vocals layer perfectly over Cook's vibrant big beat, and even Dizzee Rascal finds time to pop up with a typically energetic rap halfway through.
Filled with horns and irresistible Caribbean rhythms, it's the perfect record for the long summer months, and it's accompanied by an ingenious video featuring an awful lot of naked dancers. Get ready for that boy to write the soundtrack for this year as well.
