Bubba Sparxxx - Deliverance

Bubba Sparxxx fluttered away after the 2001 release of Dark Days Bright Nights. Following up Ugly was a feat somewhat beyond Bubba. But then Ugly was a massive tune, owing no small favour to Timbaland. The album Deliverance was released last September but failed to make a massive impact.

Now the album's title track is being released, and it isn't a stunner. Although you can't help but feel that this is where Bubba feels at home. This is a low key country/rap track - at first listen you could parallel the change from Ugly to Deliverance with Everlast's fall from grace. But given a chance this white-trash rap from the dirty south will grow.

In the impatient MTV generation Deliverance will be discarded by the majority, which is unfair. Deliverance doesn't possess the stomping qualities that come with our perceptions of rap from the American south, and it isn't even the best track on the album (give She Tried a listen). The best thing this single can do is promote some interest in the album, which I hope it does.
