Fresh from advising the youth of the nation to vote Tory (hmm, very rock'n'roll that one chaps), Wayne Rooney's favourite boy band - who aren't really a boy band, 'cos they play guitars and like punk and everything - return with another little ditty sounding remarkably like all their others.
She Wants To Be Me is the tale of an obsessive girlfriend who's freaking the boys out, so much so that they end up sectioned in a mental hospital. Well, we can but hope... The song does actually contain a few lines that raise a smile, such as, "She's so obsessed with me, that she stands up to pee," and bounces along on a horribly catchy rhythm. It just all sounds a bit empty and soulless, but you don't come to Busted looking for deep and meaningful music.
The likes of Busted are far more preferable to the insipid ballads of Westlife, but it does rather grate that Busted are being marketed as pop-punk when this is about as punk as, well, Michael Howard. Still, their fans will no doubt love it, and as a man in my early 30s maybe I'm just not supposed to get it.
