One of the strongest songs from the Cagedbaby debut album
gets a deserved single release, and finds supremo Tom Gandey choosing
Michael Hutchence as his unexpected influence.
A big, foot-stomping rhythm gets extra power from strategically placed
synthesizers, while Gandey using a lyrical couplet straight out of the
InXS songbook: "Baby I've got a question," he breathes; "before I
walk you home". With rock sensibilities to the fore it's something of a
surprise that the track is so danceable, and yet somehow it works, the
catchy chorus hammered home by off beat guitar work.
A further plus comes in the shape of remixes from X-Press 2's
Ashley Beedle, who preys on the disco potential of the track to
produce a nippy, bass drive number, while Justin Robertson takes his
big beat sensibilities to the vocals. A fine dancefloor moment, and worth
buying for the reworked material even if you already own the album.
