Captain are pop. Captain are shiny. Captain have seduced the major labels and Radio 2 and are going to seduce your children. Salute them now and then run out and buy all their records.
It is now about six months into my campaign toconvince every regular musicOMH hitter that Captainare the best thing to happen to pure pop since slicedbread. Or at least since the Dream Academy.
Just ignore everything that might be telling you that you shouldn't like them (particularly if they mention Deacon Blue in the same sentence). So what if they're not only supporting Keane this winter but are proud to be doing so? They will blow them off stage (and besides, they're also supporting The Feeling, who are considerably better). So what if Frontline has been released before? They're giving you a second chance and you should take it. Those of us who've been in the know for a while will only keep trying to wake you up to them for so long.
Frontline. Beautiful, glorious pop harmonies and sumptuous keyboards produced by Trevor Horn and performed by a band who want you to dance with them and who will soon be appearing in venues in vast conference centres near you. Just remember to leave before Keane come on.
