Manchester four-piece Cats In Paris have already had labels fighting over them, having already achieved cult status in their home town. It's painless to see why - clocking in at over five minutes in length, this ambitious debut manages to cram more ideas and inimitability than most singles released this year combined.
Boy / girl vocals (incomprehensible, at times) crash over distorted keyboards, glockenspiels, synths, drums - you name it, it's probably in there. Coming across like some Dat Politics / Bis hybrid, the with rich song textures makes it feel like four tracks combined, it's the sort of delivery that not only makes the listener stand to attention, but actually excite them too. Like Los Campisenos! If they had the attention span to do anything longer than 120 seconds in length.
It certainly wets the appetite of what is to come from this bunch, which is handy given a debut record is promised later in the year.
