First things first, don't let their name put you off. It may look as though Ch3vy are following the dubious path of teen sk8ter talk, but in this case you shouldn't judge the book by its cover. There's enough soul in this debut EP to make even Avril Lavigne, relax her angst-ridden shoulders, push up her gel-padded bra and cut some serious rug.

Second things second, don't let the name put you off. Fur Coat, No Knickers is not as naff as your gay uncle Mike's fantasy matter, it's actually a wonderful helping of pure funk and silky grooves.

First track Praize The Nord combines hits of unconcerned jazz with deep bass lines, while Rock Me Mumma and 83 Functions rely on rare samples to distinguish them from similar 60s soul-driven offerings. Combined with a lounging After Party, it's fair to label this EP as 'very cool' and presume Catskills Projects have found the cream of their artists in Ch3vy.
