You've got to feel sorry for Charlotte Church somewhat. Pilloried by the tabloid press for - shock - drinking and smoking (I mean, what other 19 year old does that?), she's now embarking on a risky new career change by attempting to conquer the pop market.

Luckily, Crazy Chick is actually pretty good. It has a real Motown feel to it, with a horn section that brings to mind some of Emma Bunton's better solo moments. Church's voice is, surprisingly, well suited to the song (and she doesn't slip into any Mariah Carey style histrionics either). The lyrics do leave a lot to be desired though - "You've really done this time/You know you're twisting my mind/You got me acting like a whacked out chick".

All in all, it's not half as horrific as some people may have predicted. Girls Aloud may still have the disposable pop market sown up, but this will keep Charlotte in fags and booze for some time to come.
