The definition of a "balla" according to the dirty south (and I'm not talking about Essex) is; rockin' ice, pimped out whips and fly hunnies. For those of you who didn't understand any of that you'd do well to stop reading now. If there's any readers left you probably know all about Chingy.

The 24-year-old is following up last years smash album Jackpot with Powerballin', presumably because he's taking ballin' to a new level. Although there's not a lot in Balla Baby that suggests his progression wont hit a touch of turbulence. The beat is B2K like, the hook could almost be mistaken for Nate Dogg although the whole package isn't too bad.

The problem facing hip-hop now is that there seems to be a similar identikit package that helped the success of boy-bands in the nineties. I'm not suggesting Chingy is as manufactured as say Boyzone but, at the moment there's very little to distinguish the likes of Chingy and J Kwon in what is becoming an increasingly saturated genre.
