Following in the footsteps of Damien Rice, Chris Singleton is the latest singer/songwriter from the Emerald Isle to grace our CD players...and he does it with a nod to the songs of yesteryear.
Worry Number One is the first single off Dubliner Singleton's upcoming debut album Twisted City. It starts with a missile-coming-to-Earth 'whoosh!' followed by a T-Rex glam-rock inspired verse and a Beatles-esque catchy chorus.
Singleton seems to pride himself on being influenced by prime '60s and '70s acts (indeed his voice is like a bland Bowie), however Worry Number One is more derivative than influenced. It is a solid well-written song but simply nothing new or exciting.
